Back in T.O

Mindy has come back!

 

I spent last 2 days in Edmonton, walking around the biggest shopping mall in the world-West Edmondon Mall. It is crazy!! There are T&T supermarket, casino, water park, ice house, playground, cinema, sea lions park and even mini golf fields. No need to walk out once you get in there and get the map of it! Yes, it has its own map, for the mall. It is very hard for us to enjoy shopping because you easily get exhausted. So we went there only for the cinema to watch the War of the World and the water park. To be honest, the movie is just so-so, typical hi-fi movie. Tom Cruise is not young nor attractive to me any more, neither to most of people in the cinema. I really feel sorry for him. We met a serious thunder storm on our way back to Calgary, which looked like the terrible scence in the movie. Although we made joke of it, saying that the aliens were coming, we were kinda scared. Heavy rain+strong wind+horrible lightning+tons of mosquitoes, hope you can image this picture and we were just in it! Fortunately, we passed that area at last and got home safely. 

 

I arrived in T.O on Friday and went to my boss’s home for BBQ on Saturday. Nice weather, delicious food and beer made me relax and become fatter and fatter! I have to be on diet again from next week! Sunday is for grocery and laundry, as usual. This time, I cleaned up the whole suite, including the bathroom and the kitchen. Now our suite looks neat and elegant..haha…not really…just kidding!

 

So today I went to lab in the morning (a little bit hard for me to get up in the morning), giving away all the souvenirs. Everybody was surprised and happy when they got their gifts. Thats exactly what I want-SMILE on their faces. When I walked into the lab, Brian came to my bench at once and talked about Banff with me. He seemed so eager to go back to Banff again and never come back to "dirty Toronto", haha. "Hey, Min! Where is my postcard?", he asked me, pretending to be angry. Unbelievable, I sent the card 7 days ago, but they havent got it yet!! That is Canada-from west side to east side, a postcard needs more than 7 days to reach its destination. Finally, it got here THIS afternoon and I believe Fang will paste it on her office door although Brian wanna staple it on his bench. She is the boss, haha! At that time, I thought I should have sent another card especially for Brian.

 

Bad things of today is one of my projects is still not working, although shupeng (the new post-doc)  used another protocol. As to the very low concentration of DNA, I guess the problem is the insufficient efficiency of the Gel Extract Kit….
